Touro Emergency Department is a primary stroke center and a Chest Pain Center. If you are having a heart attack or stroke, come to Touro for care immediately.

What can I expect inside the ER?

  • Separate COVID and Non-COVID emergency rooms to ensure patient safety.
  • ER navigator triages patients at entrance to determine which emergency room is best for each patient.
  • No waiting rooms. Each patient goes from entrance to room to receive fast, quality care.

Patients with non-life threatening conditions or wounds will be seen through our Fast Track program while patients in critical condition are cared for in our Emergency Department. Separating patients by the severity of their illness or injury results in less waiting time and a higher level of care for all.

What is Fast Track?

When you arrive at our Emergency Department with less serious illnesses and injuries, a triage nurse will evaluate your condition and send you to our Fast Track area for treatment. Fast Track is not an urgent care center – it is an "express lane" through the Emergency Department experience.

Our Fast Track Department has 12 cardiac-monitored beds and is open seven days a week from 10 am to 10 pm. Outside of these hours, minor illnesses are treated in the main ER. If your condition ends up being severe or critical, you will have access to all the resources of our Emergency Department.

Touro’s Emergency Department and Fast Track are located on the first floor of the hospital at 1401 Foucher Street, New Orleans, LA 70115.

Please note: Patients can be dropped off at the Emergency entrance, accessible from the Delachaise Street. Parking is available in the Delachaise Street parking garage, located directly across from the Emergency Department entrance.
